Social Initiative for Literacy and Development Program (SILDEP) is a non-governmental organization in the northern regions of Ghana with the headquarters in Tumu – Sissala East Municipality. SILDEP envisions a world in which all women and girls realize their full potentials in a society that respects people’s rights and dignity. SILDEP is a right based organization that works to ensure all children, girls and young women realized their rights to development especially through quality education, protection from violence and participation in social, economic, cultural and political life. SILDEP has been working in Ghana since 2008 with tremendous experience in right based programming, networking with communities, groups and individuals. SILDEP as an NGO works directly with communities in the Upper West Region of Ghana and one province in Burkina Faso.
SILDEP champions rural development through women empowerment (gender equality promotion, women economic empowerment including financial inclusion, and child literacy (adult, numeracy, computer, digital, financial literacy and inclusive education) and skills development with the focus on poverty mitigation, promotion of human rights particularly for women, youth and Children.
SILDEP has a track record of performance in previous relevant projects and programmes; the strengths in delivering joint programmes and joint lobby and advocacy; and strength in networking by SILDEP and her partner organizations will contribute to further increase impact of our proposed programmes.
The mission of the organization is to promote the welfare of the vulnerable people through language development, adult literacy, translation, gender equity promotion and skills development.
The vision of SILDEP is a literate Rural Population with Sustainable income that is comparable to the highest regional income in Ghana
We provide support for the eldely, poor and vulnerable, needy children in schools and the general public when the need arises

Ms Belinda who spoke during the Community Child Protection Teams (CCPTs) learning event at Wechiau in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region, urged parents to give equal attention to the education of the female child too, stressing on the saying that "If you educate a girl, you educate a whole nation".
